Maintenance & Facilities
The Maintenance & Facilities Department is responsible for the buildings and grounds of the schools and District Office of the Milford School District.
The department is concerned about resource management as well as providing clean and safe environment for students. The overall goal is to provide a physical setting that is appropriate and adequate for learning. Specific goals are the following:
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and the community
- Enhance and improve district facilities
- Utilize a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to address daily building and grounds maintenance and long term facility issues
- Support repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems district-wide
- Follow district energy policies and guidelines
- Streamline productivity and ensure cost-effectiveness
Our team is a group of dedicated custodial staff who are the first line of defense in the maintenance of five buildings at four sites totalling 442,000 square feet. Their role is to provide the environment for academic achievement in our schools through building cleaning, preventive maintenance, and support services to staff, students, and our community.
Each custodian cleans 29,000 square feet per day or almost 13 average-sized homes in one day in the course of their duties. There are 4 maintenance grounds techs that handle 75 acres of lawn areas and athletic fields, They also handle approximately 110,000 square feet of buildings or the equivalent of 50 homes daily.
